…a.k.a. “what ya lookin’”.
And Jeees, how was I looking.
Looking through the viefinder of a Nikon xy with some zoom lens on it, while staring into the eyes of this cute, littly, unleashed puppy and mutually hearing the radio in my ear, with my colleagues on it.
“Dude, where are you? We´re ready to shoot and we need your damn sticks in front of our damn camera"
I think it was April back in 2014, Tirana - Albania. Shooting the season highlight of “Alarm für Cobra 11”. My first year as 2. AC on set, in the middle of some deep urban, foreign, non tourist stirr up. Never taken a serious picture in my entire life before. Especially not with such a small, uncool photography apparatus with no ARRI Logo on it.
But here I was. Hands on with this little piece of gear in my hands.
One day earlier, the 1. AC of our b-unit came to me, slung this camera with its strap up my neck and said: “here, make some cool pictures from us while we’re shooting.. And don’t kill that camera”.
Over the next 3 weeks or so, I took that thing almost with bed to me. (Ok. I did.)
Came home with some hundreds of shitty pictures.
Came home with some of my favorite pictures till today.
This is one of my very first shots.
Lucky day, lucky me.
Funfact: till today, I never owned a camera by myself.
